TESTING GR8 QUAD v2 2025-12-05
More testing of the GR8 Quad set today at Hanalei, surf was in the 6' - 8' range, with some solid outside wrappers.
Consensus is that these fins are fantastic for power surfing with tons of drive without loss of maneuverability on steep faces. These fins do what they were intended to do with a lot of speed due to the improved lift from the high-aspect shape.
The larger fin is the GR8-613BW (BLENDED-WING) and the smaller one the GR8-338. The small fin adds additional drive and projection for bigger, more powerful waves. The larger fin has also been tested as a twin in a smaller board and small conditions, and still works really well, although it required moving the back foot back a little to get the best performance. This could also have been due to the box placement, as this fin has some good rake.
The board these were testing on has a nice, tight cluster, which suits this particular fin setup well.
Next up, we are going to be testing a further refinement of the larger fin. We are adding a few more degrees of rake and narrowing up the blade some more in order to generate even more lift. Just need time to get these finished up, as there is going to be a good run of surf for the next week or so.
